Bear and the Whisper of the WindBear and the Whisper of the Wind by Marianne Dubuc
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

An adorable and charming story that all readers will relate to. We all find in a time in our lives when we feel unsettled and need to move on from something to find the new thing that makes us feel at home. Bear has to go on a journey to find his new home but only after a few missteps.

This story really warms the heart. This story will help create dialogue between parent and child by engaging in sharing how this book makes the reader feel. It is beautifully illustrated and thought provoking for young readers.

A must read!!!

“An excellent and timeless selection for all picture book shelves.”

— School Library Journal, Starred Review on Otto & Pio

From the award-winning author and illustrator of Up the Mountain Path, The Fish and the Cat, and Otto & Pio comes an imaginative read-aloud picture book about one bear's journey to believe in himself and discover the beauty of change. Marianne Dubuc’s BEAR AND THE WHISPERER OF THE WIND (Princeton Architectural Press; on sale March 1, 2022), is a sweet, delightfully illustrated tale that shows children that change may be scary at first, but it can lead to fun, happy, and exciting things too.

Passover, Here I Come! by D.J. Steinberg
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I did not know much about Passover before I read this book. I loved reading the poems and learning about the special holiday. The illustrations are so beautiful too!! There is such love on this book and it shows from cover to cover! I adored the stickers at the end too. Kids will love this book, too, whether they celebrate or want to learn; it will be a delight for all!

Her Last AffairHer Last Affair by John Searles
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

#FirstLine - Every marriage has secrets.

Loneliness. I would say that is a pretty universal feeling. We can all recall a time when we were lonely. We can recall how that made us feel vulnerable, scared perhaps. Well, loneliness is a theme in the this hard to put down story. You will be able to relate to the characters; their choices, their desires and their feelings. You will be sucked into the setting, story and intriguing characters. I adored the pacing of the book, it was awesome and very well done. A must read page turner that plays out like a movie in your mind.

Wow, part slow burnt, part rollercoaster this book will entertain cover to cover. Original and tense, this book was quite a wild ride. The reader will definitely be able to place themselves into the story allowing them to feel and experience all the things that the characters do! A must read!

The Nazis Knew My NameThe Nazis Knew My Name by Magda Hellinger
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

#FirstLine - Introduction: Very few can understand what it was like to be a prisoner at Auschwitz-Birkenau-really only those who were there.

This book really was a remarkable story of survival and courage in Auschwitz like the cover states. I was blown away by Magda Hellinger. What an outstandingly brave woman. I still am processing this book. It is powerful, heroic and unforgettable. Everyone must read this book, everyone. I will never stop thinking about this book. There are no words to capture how impactful it was!!! A MUST READ, now more than ever!

Moment in TimeMoment in Time by Suzanne Redfearn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

#FirstLine - The first thing Chloe sees when she walks into the alley is a gate someone forgot to close.

Things happen to us that mold who we become. We are all vulnerable creatures susceptible to outside forces that change our lives. Moment in Time reflects what happens when hard things happen. Redfearn writes characters that are far from perfect, because they are real. You will be pulled into this story, wanting to help navigate the characters through their struggles. You will be invested and feel lots of emotions. Be prepared to set some time aside, because you won’t want to stop reading!

The Good SonThe Good Son by Jacquelyn Mitchard
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

#FirstLine ~ I was picking my son up at the prison gates when I spotted the mother of the girl he had murdered.

This book was something! It had a lot of emotions contained within. You cannot help but put yourself in the place of the characters and experience this journey along side them. The Good Son is filled with unconditional love that mixes with deeply fleshed out characters and story. These elements make for a story that keeps you up well past your bedtime. I read this book in one day because I could not put it down. It was so beautifully written and tugs at all the parts of your heart and mind!

A Reason for HopeA Reason for Hope by Kristin von Kreisler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

#FirstRead ~ For a year, Will had imagined Hope lounging at his feet under his office desk between her appointments.

I loved this book so much. From the irresistible cover to the story contained inside, it was sheer love. You can tell that the writer lived and loved this story while writing it because it was evident in the attention to detail and the building of the characters and plot. It was all done so beautifully and seamlessly. It captures the love that dogs give and the power they yield. It was a story that was deeper than the cute cover and really touches on so many themes that the reader can relate to. A must read story to escape into!!!

#FirstLine - Fourteen clicks.

Lovers of both the power of social media and crime stories are going to love this book! It was disturbing and entertaining in equal measure. I loved how I never really knew what was going to happen. There were some twists and a few turns that ramped up in the second half of the story. You will uncover secrets that a family tried hard to keep buried. Nothing is ever as it appears!!! A super debut!

This book was spellbinding. It was enchanting and magical. It was one of those stories that brings out the child inside of us. It sparks memories and imagination. On a Night Like ThisOn a Night Like This by Lindsey Kelk
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

#FirstLine ~ 'Once upon a time, in a faraway kingdom, there was a woman called Francesca who couldn't be on time to save her life,' Jess announced as I blew through the doors of Suzette's Cafe on Wednesday morning.

This book was everything I needed to take my mind off of all things going on in the world. I feel like that is a gift that Kelk has given readers, which I appreciate so very much! I loved it from start to finish. It was such a great story with amazing characters. I was immediately pulled into the story and felt all the feels! It is one of those book that could be put up on the big screen or made into a mini series. I highly recommend this book!
