#MMBBR #Review #HarryAndThePelican by #AmyLeaf #ChildrensBook #EarthDay #Ocean #Nature

Harry visits his grandpa. Harry's cousins decide to walk to the lighthouse. Harry decides he can make it to the lighthouse, too. Along the way, Harry meets a new friend and sees many of nature's treasures. Harry has a great day!

A really cute book both about making new friends, but also about making memories and learning new things along the way! I love pelicans, a lot, so this book was one I enjoyed. I love taking time to explore outside and I love my family!!! This book captures all those themes, with some fun illustrations. It also captures how amazing nature is and how we need to take care of the earth!!!

The Perfect Daughter by D.J. Palmer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

#FirstLine ~ At thirty minutes past eight o'clock, red and blue strobe lights lit up the sky outside Grace Francone's modest Cape house with the frenzy of fireworks display.

I loved this book, like REALLY loved it. I was entranced, fascinated and fully engrossed from the first page. I loved the slow burn of this book. It gave information in such a smooth way. There are lots of twists and lots of turns and a few major bombshells, that left me satisficed and surprised. I would say that this was one of my favorite books in this genre. The premise and topic was so interesting and something that made this book an one-of-a-kind hit in my mind. A MUST read and I book I HIGHLY recommend!!!

Under the Southern Sky – 4/20/21

By Kristy Woodson Harvey

Description

Two childhood friends discover that love--and family--can be found in unconventional ways in this timely, moving novel from the USA TODAY bestselling author of the “beautifully Southern, evocative Peachtree Bluff series” (Kristin Harmel, internationally bestselling author of The Winemaker’s Wife).

Recently separated Amelia Saxton, a dedicated journalist, never expected that uncovering the biggest story of her career would become deeply personal. But when she discovers that a cluster of embryos belonging to her childhood friend Parker and his late wife Greer have been deemed “abandoned,” she’s put in the unenviable position of telling Parker--and dredging up old wounds in the process.

Parker has been unable to move forward since the loss of his beloved wife three years ago. He has all but forgotten about the frozen embryos, but once Amelia reveals her discovery, he knows that if he ever wants to get a part of Greer back, he’ll need to accept his fate as a single father and find a surrogate.

Each dealing with their own private griefs, Parker and Amelia slowly begin to find solace in one another as they navigate an uncertain future against the backdrop of the pristine waters of their childhood home, Cape Carolina. The journey of self-discovery leads them to an unforgettable and life-changing lesson: Family--the one you’re born into and the one you choose--is always closer than you think.

From “the next major voice in Southern fiction” (Elin Hilderbrand, #1 New York Times bestselling author), Under the Southern Sky is a fresh and unforgettable exploration of love, friendship, and the unbreakable ties that bind.

Blurbs

"Harvey (Feels Like Falling) delivers a heart-wrenching tale of love and loss in this tearjerker...Harvey brings her characters to life, including Greer, whose heartbreaking journal entries imagine the family she and Parker would have. These passages are particularly wrenching, making the book’s happy ending all the more moving. Fans of women’s fiction will devour this.”
Publishers Weekly (starred review)

“Pack your beach bag, Harvey’s back with another delightful story of the magic of southern coastal towns… As with Mary Kay Andrews or Patti Callahan Henry, Harvey spins romance around well-drawn characters, complete with strengths and weaknesses, and always mindful of the beauty that comes from living in the modern South.”
Booklist

“Sometimes the key to new love lies hidden in old friendships. In Under the Southern Sky, Kristy Woodson Harvey stirs up a warm-hearted mix of hometown charm and the sort of thoroughly modern problems that bring us back to the people who know us best and the places that remind us of who we really are.”
—Lisa Wingate, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Before We Were Yours and The Book of Lost Friends

“Perfect for: fans of beach reads, P.S. I Love You, and anything by authors Jennifer Weiner and Elin Hilderbrand. A perfect pick for book clubs or a weekend read, Under the Southern Sky follows journalist Amelia as she makes a heart-wrenching discovery that changes everything.”
Country Living

"I've always been a Kristy Woodson Harvey fan, but she has taken things to a whole new level with Under the Southern Sky, her best novel yet. I laughed, sobbed, and gasped at the story's clever twists and turns; I couldn't flip the pages fast enough to see how Amelia's and Parker's story turned out. You'll need plenty of tissues—and maybe some of Cape Carolina's beloved bourbon-spiked sweet tea—to make it to the end. Deliciously plotted, intricately constructed, gorgeously written, and brimming with hope, Under the Southern Sky will steal your heart and make you think about first loves, second chances, and the unforeseeable twists of fate that guide us all."
—Kristin Harmel, New York Times bestselling author of The Book of Lost Names

"Harvey delivers a fresh and unforgettable portrait of modern parenthood and the thoroughly traditional ways that love continues to conquer all."
Booktrib

“This is a character-driven (…) romance with a lot of introspection. Recommend to readers of Mary Kay Andrews and Susan Mallery.”
Library Journal

"I adore Kristy Woodson Harvey’s writing style—and topics! I always know that I’m getting an immersive, well-written, visually transporting book when I open one of Kristy’s and this is one of her best. And that’s saying a lot!"

FOLLOW KRISTY:

#FirstLine ~ I found out my marriage was over the day my "Modern Love" piece appeared in the New York Times.

Kristy Woodson Harvey is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to Southern Fiction. She has managed to find her voice in that genre and she continues to knock it out of the park with ALL of her books. I loved Dear Carolina and I also loved Lies and Other Acts of Love and I loved Under the Southern Sky too, SO MUCH.

Kristy Woodson Harvey captures the charm of, essence of and the depth in characters that make for page turning and emotional reads. Her books cause you to look within your heart and to think about yourself as one of the characters...you think about what you would do, how you would react and how to proceed given the information.

This was a book where I laughed, cried and know that I will be thinking about it long after today. 5 stars

So...I am obsessed with these #necklaces by @toughasamothertribe

Being a #mother is one of the most important things in my life. It is something I take pride in, even on the hardest of days.

The “definition” of mother comes in various forms. You can be a biological mother, stepmother, mother by heart or fur mother the list goes on and on! Being a mother means caring deeply about another living thing and doing so with every fiber of your being! Being a mother is love without bounds!

Wearing these #toughasamothertribe necklaces makes me feel like my children and fur baby are right there with me. Each necklace has a different stone and different affirmations to help minimize #MomGuilt (which we all have) and helps to promote #PositiveThinking.

You can even get custom made necklaces! #MothersDay is around the corner and these necklaces would make a great #gift! I highly recommend them and have gotten lots of compliments on my necklaces when I have worn mine!

#MMBBR #Review #FirstLine #LiesWeBury by @ellemarr via @mbeatie and @amazonpub

A novel about secrets and revenge by the number one Amazon Charts bestselling author of The Missing Sister. It’s only by confronting who she was then that she can understand who she is now.

I was born in captivity…

Two decades ago Marissa Mo escaped a basement prison—the only home she’d ever known. At twenty-seven, Marissa’s moved beyond the trauma and is working under a new name as a freelance photographer. But when she accepts a job covering a string of macabre murders in Portland, it’s impossible for Marissa not to remember.

Everything is eerily familiar. The same underground lairs. Sad trinkets and toys left behind, identical to those Marissa had as a child. And then there is the note meant just for her that freezes Marissa’s blood: See you soon, Missy.

To determine the killer’s next move, Marissa must retrieve her long-forgotten memories and return to a past she’s hidden away. But she won’t be facing her fears alone. Someone is waiting for her in the dark.

#FirstLine ~ Secrets never stay buried for long.

Intense and original this book is not to be missed. You will be swept up in the amazing story. I loved that this book was unsettling and you were made aware how fragile and powerful the human mind can be and how memories are triggers to the past. A slow burn and a fun and chilling read!

#MMBBR #Showcase #CottageByTheSea by @debbiemacomber via @penguinrandom #debbiemacomber #cottagebythesea

A seaside town helps one young woman reclaim the light after darkness in this uplifting novel, now available in a new trade paperback edition!

Annie Marlow has been through the worst. Rocked by tragedy, she heads to the one place that makes her happy: Oceanside in the Pacific Northwest, the destination of many family vacations when Annie was a teenager.

Once there, Annie begins to restore her broken spirit, thanks, in part, to the folks she meets: a local painter, Keaton, whose large frame is equal to his big heart—and who helps Annie fix up her rental cottage by the sea; Mellie, the reclusive, prickly landlord Annie is determined to befriend; and Britt, a teenager with a terrible secret. But it is Keaton to whom Annie feels most drawn. His quiet, peaceful nature offers her both comfort and reprieve from her grief, and the two begin to grow closer.

Then events threaten to undo the idyll Annie has longed for. And when the opportunity of a lifetime lands in her lap, she is torn between the excitement of a new journey toward success and the safe and secure arms of the haven—and the man—she’s come to call home.

In this heartwarming tale, Annie finds that the surest way to fix what is damaged within is to help others rise above their pain and find a way to heal.

***This edition includes a new short story called A Tornado Blows into Town. The story is based on Teresa, a beloved character from Cottage by the Sea.

World-renowned, internationally bestselling artist Kerby Rosanes is back, and for the first time, he arrives with a mission: to raise awareness of the devastating loss of biodiversity around the world.

His newest coloring book, FRAGILE WORLD (Plume; on sale March 16, 2021), features 56 endangered, vulnerable, and threatened animals and landscapes: from the Tapanuli Orangutan and the Hawksbill Turtle, to the Philippine bat caves and the Baltic Sea. Each illustration will showcase the beautiful things that these animals and landscapes do which contribute to our fragile world. Wildlife expert Marianne Taylor contributes eight written pages about the inspiration and rationale behind each illustration along with information about the risks that the animals and landscapes currently face.

This coloring book is stunning. I cannot stop looking at it. It is like come of the  animals in the illustrations are looking right at you. It is truly captivating to see. I am in love with the owl page! In this stunning coloring book you will get to gaze into 56 illustrations of animals and landscapes; all of which are in risk of being lost. That really struck a cord with me. We need to do what we can to protect these animals and places. Hopefully you will get inspired to take action and to help join preservation causes because it will take all of us to help save these amazing creatures and places.

I have been so busy with work and life that I have not had a change to dive in and color yet. That is on the agenda for the weekend. I cannot wait to spend some time with these amazing animals and bringing them into color!

I highly recommend this coloring book for all levels of interest and skill!

The Good SisterThe Good Sister by Sally Hepworth
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

#FirstLine ~ It's been three months since Owen left.

Um, well....WOW. I am still a bit speechless. This book was quite the read. I would say that I was unsettled the whole time. It had an uncomfortable undertone from the start and I LOVED IT! You never knew who to trust or what was real or perceived. It was one of those reads that unfolds slowly...making the reader work to anticipate what was going to happen. It built on the suspense, but not the edge of your seat suspense, but the slow burn of a reveal that leaves you saying...WOW! I absolutely loved this book. I was pulled in right away and loved the varying perspectives and the journal entries. It was fresh, original and worthy of all the praise it is getting! A MUST READ!!!!

BloomBloom by Nicola Skinner
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

#FirstLine ~ It's not often you open a brand-new book to be told that it's dangerous.

I loved this book so deeply. I loved the setting, as I am from the USA and when books are set in a small town in the UK my heart instantly melts. This book is so very character driven and you will fall in love with all of them, even the evil ones will make you smile. This book is about so many important themes. You will see the value of friendship, standing up for what is right even when it is hard, embracing obstacles and the importance of green spaces. I adored Sorrel so much. She was just a deeply driven young girl, with big dreams that were turned on there axis. She also bloomed in this book from the start to finish and to watch it happen was a sheer delight. I want to devour all the books Skinner has written because this book turned me into a super fan of hers! I HIGHLY recommend this book by a truly gifted storyteller.

You Love Me (You, #3)You Love Me by Caroline Kepnes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

#FirstLine ~ I think you're the one I spoke to on the phone, the librarian with a voice so soft that I went out and bought myself a cashmere sweater.

This story just keeps getting better and better. Joe tries to be good, right?!?! But, can he hold it together when he lays eyes on a beautiful librarian? I guess you will have to read and find out for yourself because I would never spoil it for anyone else. I love this series, hard. And after three books I am still fully engaged and loved every minute of this book. Kepnes has a knack for writing a story that is intense, original and captivating due to both plot and characters. You get entranced by Joe, that is what makes Joe, Joe, right. He can charm you and pull you in. I hope this series never ends. I just loved it so much!

All opinions are mine.

#firstline - The day Harry didn’t get tenure was also the day I discovered that an IUD is not foolproof.

OMG, this book. I loved it, hard. It was funny, heartwarming, heartbreaking, honest and tackles so many themes mom’s can relate to and women struggle with as they age. It was one of those books you cannot help but devour because you wanted to see what was going to happen next. Believe me when I say you will be buzzing through the pages to see how it all shakes out. Secrets are revealed and when things take on a life of their own you are taken on quite a wild ride, filled with gossip, likes, shares and comments (oh the comments!). The characters and story will peak your interest and keep you entranced from cover to cover! Speaking of covers, can you handle how amazing this book cover is!?!?!? Love!!! #WhoIsTheCountyDutchess

#FirstLine - “The dead have nothing to fear,” Lexie said.

My head is still spinning. Right up to the end I was not sure how this book was going to end. The Drowning Kind is a ghost story with a kick. You are pulled between past and present and need to navigate between myths and truths. It is a book that is hard to put down because you want to know what is going to happen. I was aghast by the ending...seriously! It was a fantastic conclusion to the story. It was a beautifully drawn out story with so many little twists and turns that kept me fully engaged! A must read!!!
