Taylor Dean lives in Texas and is the mother of four grown children. Upon finding herself with an empty nest, she began to write the stories that were always wandering around in her head, quickly finding that she had a passion for writing, specifically romance. Whether it’s paranormal, contemporary, or suspense—you’ll find all sub-genres of romance in her line-up.
My blog is the story of my path to publication. I’m not an expert by any means. However, I’ve learned a lot in the process, and hopefully, what I share with you will help you towards fulfilling your writing dreams. I’ll start at the beginning and work my way to the present day. If you want to learn the entire story, start at the first blog post! Otherwise, join at any time and enjoy the ride! I write in all sub-genres of Romance: suspense, paranormal, and contemporary. My novels are much like Forest’s box of chocolates: you never know what you’re going to get. One thing is certain however, you will always get a healthy dose of CLEAN Romance.
A. My
stories have always been in my head for as long as I can remember. I’ve always been a stay-at-home Mom. While I
love it, many of the daily chores are mind-numbing. My mind has always wandered
into the world of make-believe. It was such a relief to finally commit my
stories to paper.
So, I
guess you could say I am inspired by a driving need to write the thoughts in my
head!
Q. What is your favorite thing about being an author?
A. I get to stay home and I work by my
own time clock.
Q. What is the toughest part of being an author?
A. I get to stay home and I work by my
own time clock!!
Seriously,
I’m always in my home and work
ridiculously long hours. I’m harder on myself than any boss would ever be!
You know
what else is tough? Rejection. Ouch, it hurts, no matter how often you coach
yourself into being prepared for it. In the end, you just have to stay true to
yourself and stick to what you want to write. One of the most important things
I’ve learned is that not everyone will like every book—and that’s okay.
Q. If you could not be an author, what would you do/be?
A. A
pre-school teacher. I love working with children.
Q. What would the story of your life be entitled?
A. Stay-at-Home
Mom becomes Accidental Author
Q. What is your favorite book of all time?
A. Bid
Time Return by Richard Matheson
This is
the book that the movie, Somewhere in Time, was based on.
Q. Which character from ANY book are you most like?
A. Honestly,
I’ve never read a book wherein I felt like I was similar to the character.
After all, she’d be pretty boring!
* I’m shy.
(Remember senior mosts? Most shyest in HS, that’s me!)
*I’m an
introvert.
*I loved
being a stay-at-home mom.
* I’d
rather listen than talk.
*I don’t
like to travel. (I get motion sick)
*I’m
perfectly content with days when I have nowhere to go.
Hmmmmm .
. . maybe I just invented my next character.
Q. What character from all of your books
are you most like?
A. I
relate the most to Alyssa in Sierra. I really tried to go out of my comfort
zone with my other characters—I had them do things that I would never do.
Q. What is your favorite season?
A.
Summer. I love the sun, the heat, the pool, smoothies, flip-flops . . . bliss.
Q. What inspired your book cover(s)? Or what is your
favorite book cover and why?
A. This
was a subject of much debate. I had my covers completed and I was happy with
them. My daughter, however, felt they were a bit . . . boring. I realized she
was right. When I found the pictures that currently exist on my covers, I fell
in love. (same artist on all but one!) They just spoke to me. They’re different—and
I felt that represented the kind of romance novel you’ll receive on the inside—something
different. I write ‘fade to black’ romance. (ie: no explicit details) I have/or
will be posting the old and new covers with the release of each of my books on
my website. My favorite cover is the one for For Nick (unreleased as of yet). Here it is: (I love the way the
young lady is picking hearts off of a tree, as if she is searching for love!)
Q. Tell me something funny that happened while on a book
tour or while promoting your book.
A. A
tweet I received that said: The best gift you can give to an author is a
well-written review of there book.
Enough
said.
Q. Are you working on something new?
A. I’m
so busy with getting my six novels released that I haven’t written anything new
as of yet! But I will! I plan to write a futuristic romance and a military
romance next. Here is the release schedule for my six completed novels:
Lancaster
House June 2012
Sierra June 2012
I Have People Sept. 2012
The Middle Aisle Dec. 2012
Joshua’s Folly March 2013
For Nick June 2013

Q. Anything you want to say to followers of this blog or
those that are just stopping by?
A. Thank
you for supporting authors! Without someone to read and enjoy my stories, I’d
be lost, writing only for my own enjoyment. And while I do write because I love it, it’s
such a thrill when someone loves something I’ve written. There’s nothing like
it in the world.
When you love a book, you’ve made an author’s day!
Thank you!
