#MMBBR #Review #DiggingIt by @LorettaNyhan @AUAuthors #LakeUnionPublishing @LUAuthors

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is an emotional read. I found it to be so authentic and brilliant. There is truth and heart in this book. You can tell Nyhan has lived this story, she poured herself into it. She allows the reader to go on the journey with her, even though it was not always pretty. She wrote so authentically that you cannot help but feel emotionally connected to the characters, the story, the realness of all of it all brought together within the pages. Such a great book that left me with all the feels.

Winter Sisters by Robin Oliveira
New York, 1879: After an epic snow storm ravages the city of Albany, Dr. Mary Sutter, a former Civil War surgeon, begins a search for two little girls, the daughters of close friends killed by the storm who have vanished without a trace. Mary’s mother and niece Elizabeth, who has been studying violin in Paris, return to Albany upon learning of the girls’ disappearance—but Elizabeth has another reason for wanting to come home, one she is not willing to reveal. Despite resistance from the community, who believe the girls to be dead, the family persists in their efforts to find the two sisters. When what happened to them is revealed, the uproar that ensues tears apart families, reputations, and even the social fabric of the city, exposing dark secrets about some of the most powerful of its citizens, and putting fragile loves and lives at great risk.

So happy to report that Schorr has done it again! She has written a book that both acts as a great way for returning readers to revisit old friends but also writes it in a way that a new reader can pick it up and enjoy her brilliant story without missing a beat. I love that there are aspects of the book I can find comfort in figuring out while still being very surprised and delighted throughout. My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is very deep story with many complex topics. It is one of those stories that you instantly know, starting on page one, will be a story you could get lost in. You also know that you will love it because Carr is a dependable writer, giving her readers good stories in each and every book. It is one of the stories where the characters feel real, genuine and raw. There is enough going on within the story and it kept my interest and kept me turning the pages. I thought it was a great continuation in the series and I am looking forward to see where else this series takes us.

#MMBBR #noshelfcontrol @BookSparks #TheElizas @sarabooks #springreading

  • mrsmommybooknerdSQEEEL! I love @saracshepard - she writes #books that any #reader will devour!!! I have #noshelfcontrolwhen it comes to her books. #theelizas is her #newrelease and I could not be more excited that @booksparks has this amazing line up for #springreading !!! I am diving into this one today!!! About the book: New York Times bestselling author of Pretty Little Liars Sara Shepard makes her mark on adult fiction with this Hitchcockian double narrative composed of lies, false memories, and a protagonist who must uncover the truth for survival.
When debut novelist Eliza Fontaine is found at the bottom of a hotel pool, her family at first assumes that it’s just another failed suicide attempt. But Eliza swears she was pushed, and her rescuer is the only witness.
Desperate to find out who attacked her, Eliza takes it upon herself to investigate. But as the publication date for her novel draws closer, Eliza finds more questions than answers. Like why are her editor, agent, and family mixing up events from her novel with events from her life? Her novel is completely fictional, isn’t it?
The deeper Eliza goes into her investigation while struggling with memory loss, the closer her life starts to resemble her novel, until the line between reality and fiction starts to blur and she can no longer tell where her protagonist’s life ends and hers begins.
Fans of Pretty Little Liars, S.J. Watson’s Before I Go to Sleep, and Ruth Ware’s The Woman in Cabin 10 will be drawn to the drama of feeling like no one is on your side, the high tension of not knowing who you can trust, the hair-raising truths hidden among lies, and a faceless, nameless presence controlling Eliza’s life from the shadows.

When they meet eight years later, each has a good reason for entering an arranged marriage. Together, they embark on a perilous journey to the court of King Louis. On the way, danger from enemies on the journey brings them closer together; when they arrive at court, rivalry and intrigue nearly parts them. #MMBBR #Review #TooCloseToBreath @LivKiernan @DuttonBooks

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A great start to a promising series. Set in Ireland, a country that I adore, this police procedural story is not to be missed. It takes some common themes and turns them on their toes. This story is complex and well plotted. There is a depth in the characters that is fleshed out slowly and the story is perfectly paced around this backstory. It is a hard to put down read that will keep you glued to the page and wanting more!!!

#MMBBR #Review #SomebodysDaughter by @rochwein @LUAuthors #LakeUnionPublishing

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
A gripping story that tackles a very tough topic in a way that makes one think deeper about things that matter most; love, family and the judgments we make. A family in crisis is compelling enough, but the characters in this story are ones you cannot help but become attached to. This is a tale that you cannot stop reading. It is important and timely. A must read for any/all book clubs because there is bound to be a lot of conversations regarding this book.

A great story that really highlights the truths about pregnancy in a way that kids can understand. When a new baby comes into the house there is going to be some anxiety, for both the parents and the sibling.  Mom will also have some struggles that are perfectly explained in this beautiful story. There is no easy way to explain the changes that will occur within the home and to Mama, so books are a great tool in doing just that. This book showcases all the ways a baby enhances the family and ensures the sibling that is certainly enough love to go around. A darling story with a sing song tone and illustration that are just gorgeous.

#MMBBR #Review #BeingBree by #ChristineSromekLaforet @ClearForkPub #Spork

Six-year-old Bree Wilson thinks she needs a nametag to make friends on the first day of school. She worries she won't make any since the class is too busy going over rules and reading baby books to share nametags. Belly breaths and counting help Bree calm her worries until her nametag mysteriously disappears at recess and her extra one falls apart. Bree has a meltdown, but, with the help of her Gifted Instruction teacher, she learns friendships are formed with kind words and actions -not just nametags.

A great book that helps children deal with the anxieties and stresses of school, friends and allows the reader to learn ways to copes with those stresses. Bree is likable and one that kids can relate to. This book allows kids to relate to others in difficult situations. A book I highly recommend.

Tree Dreams is an eco-literary, coming of age novel relevant for teenagers and adults alike, for this rite of passage asks the same of us all―whatever our age or life stage, we each must discover our one true voice, and learn how to offer it to the world.
“Kristin Kaye’s coming of age novel artfully places her young heroine in the midst of the burning questions facing the entire world such as climate change and culture wars. At the same time, she manages to weave her into a discovery of the ancient human connections to both trees and dreams. This is a work of wit and imagination that informs as it inspires; it also marks a trail of encouragement for the mutual lives of people and trees.” ―Michael Meade, author of The Genius Myth and Why the World Doesn’t End
  • #FirstLine - Chapter 1: Damp chills sleeps through my jeans from rotting wood porch stairs of The What Not Shop.
  • ABOUT THE BOOK: When seventeen-year-old Jade Reynolds witnesses a violent clash between a protesting tree sitter and a local logger, she runs as far as she can from the battles that plague her home and from the mysteries of the redwood forest. But the ancient redwoods are embedded in her psyche―she feels their call even in the dark and forgotten back alleys of Portland, Oregon where she’s hiding out. She soon becomes entangled with a lovable misfit and a band of radical slackers, environmentalists, and anarchists, and finds herself living 100 feet high in the canopy of a redwood grove, trying to decide whose side she’s on: the logging community she’s known her entire life or the environmentalists who are risking their lives for the future of the forest. To find a way beyond the division between Us and Them, Jade turns to the ancient trees themselves―and the thread-thin web that connects us all.
