Written in a spare, lyrical style using fresh, evocative imagery, In a Village by the Sea tells the story of longing for the comforts of home. A perfect book for teaching about diverse cultures and lifestyles through rich pictures and words, moving from the wide world to the snugness of home and back out again.

MY REVIEW:

WOW, this is a gorgeous circle story that has some of the most beautiful illustrations.  It is a story that captures of the love of family, the sense of community and the fact that home is always where the heart is.  My kids and I loved this book so much and I cannot wait to develop it into a lesson plan.  There is so much to love both in the story, which is beautifully written and also within the wonderful detail in the illustrations.  This is one of my favorite children's books that I have read in a long time! 5 stars!!!

How do you deal with tattletales? When should you tell on someone? Lola struggles with her little brother Zeke and his tattletale behavior in this sequel to Lola Goes to Work.

MY REVIEW:

An adorable story captured in pictures of two adorable pups and one silly cat.  My son loved that the story had "a tiny story line with problems that were all solved in the end".  This is a great book for my classroom as well, as we do a lot of talking about tattling.  It can also be used for the pet lesson as well.  Any dog lover will adore this book!  My sons and I loved it and so did our Yorkie- ShihTzu, Zoe!!!  4 stars

A fun bilingual book for young kids with dogs. English and Spanish text on the same page make it easy to follow along.

"Learning to Read is a Ball can be used with language impaired toddlers to introduce them to functional vocabulary words, as well as with emergent readers to introduce them to repetitive thematic text. I was impressed with how versatile this book can be. It can also be used to develop their critical thinking skills, enhance their lexicon by discussing synonyms and antonyms, as well as boost their narrative (storytelling) abilities. I highly recommend this book."

MY REVIEW:

A book that seems so simple, but is so much more complex than that.  Teaching a child to read is a difficult thing and this book really helps to create success when a child first starts to read.  With rhyme and pictures this book will inspire any young one to love reading!
