About the book: Alyssa Matthews thought she had an explanation for everything. After all, as a slightly sceptical paranormal investigator that was what she was used to doing; researching, observing and explaining.
So when she began writing a paper about a long forgotten case of death by Spontaneous Human Combustion, she assumed it would be a run-of-the-mill piece. Little did she realise that she was about to be plunged into a situation that would not only force her to question her own sanity, but also her scepticism about the nature of the paranormal.
Not to mention the dreams that just wouldn’t go away..."

Q. What inspires your writing?
A. I find that most of the time my
dreams, and my daydreams inspire my writing.
When I’m working on a plot that seems to influence my dreams and so
that’s where I get a lot of my ideas from.
Q. What is your favorite thing about
being an author?
A. Being able to let my imagination go
wild and create characters, worlds and stories.
Q. What is the toughest part of being
an author?
A. Having to also be my own assistant,
marketing manager, agent etc.
Q. If
you could not be author, what would you do/be?
A. To be honest I would always be an author
no matter what else I was doing. I don’t
think I can envisage a time when I will not write, even if it is just “for
fun”.
Q. What would the story of your life be
entitled?
A. That’s hard one… probably something
along the lines of “A Stubborn Life”
Q. What is your favorite book of all
time?
A. “How To Make An American Quilt”, yes
I know that’s an unusual one for a writer in the paranormal genre, but I just
love how all the different storylines of the women tie together. It’s a “person” book, and I love those.
Q. Which character from ANY book are
you most like?
A. Emma in Jane Austen’s Emma. I try to do the right thing but always wind
up putting my foot in it, saying the wrong thing, and looking stupid, but
really I’m just trying to help.
Q.
What character from all of your book are you most like?
A.
Definitely Greg, I would be the voice of reason in a situation involving
the paranormal.
Q. What is your favorite season?
A.
Autumn, without a doubt. I love
the colours, and the crisp cool snap to the air.
Q.
What inspired your book cover(s)?
Or what is your favorite book cover and why?
A. The
cover to Last Regress is taken from a photo shoot I did at a local country
park. I loved that shot so much and way
the path winds away through the trees into the distance, creates the feeling of
going on a journey, a journey back to somewhere, a last regress.
Q. Tell me something funny that
happened while on a book tour or while promoting your book.
A. Well, being an eBook author all my
promoting at the moment is done from my kitchen table but I can tell you that
you have got be careful when typing in web addresses and Google searches for
review sites etc. If don’t get your
spelling correct… well let’s just say I’m glad I have an up to date virus
scanner on my laptop!
Q. Are you working on something new?
A. I am indeed, I’m working on my second
novel “Running For A Life” which is also in the paranormal genre and is based
around dreams and alternate realities.
Q. Anything you want to say to
followers of this blog or those that are just stopping by?
A. I’d just like to thank everyone who has given
me support so far with “Last Regress”.
It’s very daunting starting out as an indie author but there is a
fantastic support network of people out there from reviewers and bloggers to
readers to fellow indie authors, and all of them have made this so much easier
and also more fun.
