My review: First I am going to start by saying that I love Lesley Kagen, as a person and as an author. There is an authenticity to her writing that few can rival. She writes stories that grab your heart and keeps you turning pages. She has a talent that cannot be ignored.
Kagen opens herself up in her newest novel Mare's Nest. Mare's Nest is based on a true story that captures not only the complexities of mother/daughter relationships, but also a mothers desire to give to her child an experience better than her own. This story is really a universal story about parents undying love for their children. About every parent wanting what is best for their children, trying to avoid making the same mistakes their parents made. The Mare's Nest is simply...love.
Annie Bellamy is determined to do better than her parent did. Annie saw her childhood ruined by bankruptcy and her parents dissolved marriage, both due to horses. Although Annie loved horses she was going to shelter her daughter from the evils that horse world contains. She was not going to let her daughter Teddy ride. Period. But then Teddy fell in love with horses, just like Annie did years before. Annie tried to hang tough and keep to her no riding policy, but her desire to give her daughter the world quickly dissolved her resolve. Teddy was talented, she was in love with all things horses and was going to ride. If only the story was so trouble-free and happy. With villains, shameful horse practices, disappointments and heartbreaks this novel takes you on a journey of love, friendship and recovery. With Kagen's brilliant voice and great dialogue you find yourself once again engrossed in an amazing, well written story that is both emotional and exciting. Do not pass up reading this 5 STAR novel.

It’s hard to say what exactly would be my Go-To Autumn Romance book. When I think real hard about it, I would have to say it has a sexy, strong, determined male that when it comes to love is just lost. Then there has to be a woman who is usually in need of help or needs to know what love and family is. Together they heal each other and love turns out to be their greatest gift. I also love a happy ending at this time of year, usually where the epilogue has them starting their own family to love and cherish. Oh….and definitely HOT loving too!

ReplyDeleteMy favorite part about autumn is that the cool weather gives me the perfect excuse to keep my oven full of yummy deliciousness that I really can't do during two of the three other seasons. I love the feeling of being able to have yummy stuff baking while I nestle in with a good read.

Autumn is like a cool, smooch on the cheek from Mother Nature, with a promise that spring will come again. It allows you express a gentle goodbye to summer. Autumn is riotous collage of red, orange and golden leaves floating, blowing, crunching everywhere in a kaleidoscope of intense of color. It’s the scent of nutmeg, ginger and cinnamon in the air. Pumpkin bread. Succulent turkey. The taste of tangy crimson cranberry sauce.
ReplyDeleteAutumn is the time to curl up with a good “who done it” book. Or maybe with a tender romance, or a powerful supernatural with the hard chiseled Vampire lead, I love all genres. It’s moving from the porch swing or from the window seat, relocating to my just “Febrezed” antiquated recliner that creaks and groans like my knees and back every time I sit in it. Fall is the lazy season of life.
I want to thank all those who made the Autumn Harvest Blog Hop a success and also for the opportunity to discover new authors. Thank you!
