#MMBBR #Showcase Plain Jane Barrie Levitt Knee @plainjanebook

"Plain Jane is the story of a forty something wife and mother who has kept a secret from her family for almost seven years. Jane has forever considered herself to be plain. Her BFF Gaby is the exact opposite. Following a night of countless margaritas, Jane and Gaby make a secret pact because that’s what friends are for. Now Jane has less than a week to tell her family what she has done.

The secret is revealed over a four and a half hour time period while Jane is running a marathon. The story is told in Jane’s head. Each chapter begins with a song that Jane is listening to while running. The lyrics tie into the secret and many other stories that Jane tells about Gaby, her family, and mostly herself.

Keep moving Jane! You can do this! This is Jane’s running mantra throughout the book. The physical and emotional journey of running a marathon is continuously felt. Jane’s sixty-four songs are listed at the end of the book. It is a great playlist for those that run a ten minute mile like Jane."

Q.  What inspires your writing?
A. This is my first book and my mom inspired me to write it after I had a dream about the 'secret'.

Q.  What would the story of your life be entitled?
A.  Dreams Do Come True

Q.  What is your favorite book of all time?
A. I don't have a favorite book but I am obsessed with Jonathan Trooper and LOVE all his books

Q.  Which character from ANY book are you most like?
A. I think that a lot of writers will write about what they know (at least for their first book) so while I am NOT Jane there are definitely a few of her 'stories' that parallel my life.

Q.  What character from all of your book are you most like?
A. For sure, Jane!

Q.  What is your favorite season?
A. Summer

Q.  What inspired your book cover(s)?  Or what is your favorite book cover and why?
A. I wanted a eye catching depiction of Jane in action running at the beach since the entire story is told during her marathon run.

Q.  Tell me something funny that happened while on a book tour or while promoting your book.
A. I have been fortunate to speak at several book clubs and at every single one, at least one person make the comment that Plain Jane would be a great movie. That then leads into a conversation of who should play Jane and the number one choice at every club has been Jennifer Gardner!

Q.  Are you working on something new?
A. I have a few new book ideas circulating in my brain and have written some pages for just one.

Q.  Anything you want to say to followers of this blog or those that are just stopping by?
A.  I do not have a writing background. I am a stay at home forty something mom after having a career in online media for over fifteen years,  But to quote Walt Disney, “If you can dream it, you can do it.  Always remember that this whole thing started with a dream and a mouse.”  Plain Jane started with a dream and a laptop. Follow your dreams.
