Books as gifts!

The holiday season is upon us, so that means we are out shopping for the perfect gifts.  Consider giving a book or a book related gift this year.

Here are some of my favorite books and book related items.

Princess Mix & Match (Disney Princess)
Princess Mix & Match (Disney Princess) [Spiral-Bound]
Carol Monica

Book Description

3 and upP and upDisney Princess
The Disney Princesses mix it up in a whole new way. Little ones will delight in flipping panels of each page to mix and match their favorite Princesses. Perhaps Ariel's tail, Jasmine's scarf, and Snow White's bow are the perfect combo? Or maybe the top of Cinderella's ball gown should go with Aurora's pink dress? Fabric swatches embedded in the pages add to the fun, enabling readers to touch everything from shimmering gowns to soft shawls.

The Monster at the End of this Book (Sesame Street) (Big Little Golden Book)
Book Description

2 and upBig Little Golden Book
Many, many adults name this book as their favorite Little Golden Book. Generations of kids have interacted with lovable, furry old Grover as he begs the reader not to turn the page—for fear of a monster at the end of the book. “Oh, I am so embarrassed,” he says on the last page . . . for, of course, the monster is Grover himself! This all-time favorite is now available as a Big Little Golden Book—perfect for lap-time reading.

I Love You Stinky Face

Book Description

4 and upP and up
A vividly illustrated bedtime story that shows how the unconditional love of a mother can be tested through the relentless questions of her little boy.

"But Mama, but Mama, what if I were a super smelly skunk, and I smelled so bad that my name was Stinky Face?"

Mothers love their children and this unconditional love is truly tested in I LOVE YOU, STINKY FACE. Lisa McCourt and Cyd Moore beautifully weave a reassuring tale of the love and affection of a parent. The imaginative son turns himself into a meat-eating dinosaur, a swamp creature and much, much more before being satisfied with the fact that no matter how stinky he is or how slimy of a creature he could possibly be, he is loved and nothing will change that.

Snuggle Puppy (Boynton on Board)

Book Description

2 and upBoynton on Board
A great big hug in book form, Snuggle Puppy is a year-round valentine from parent to child. It is bright, chunky, a pleasure to hold, and has a die-cut cover that reveals a glimpse of the joy inside before it's even opened. Best of all, it's packed, of course, with pure Boynton: her inimitable language, her inimitable illustrations, her inimitable sense of fun.

OOO, Snuggle Puppy of mine! Everything about you is especially fine. I love what you are. I love what you do. Fuzzy little Snuggle Puppy, I love you. Featuring a sweet and cuddly doggie cast and rhyming verse, Snuggle Puppy is the perfect bedtime book to read last, because of an ending that kids will want again and again: I started with OOO. . . . Now we'll end like this: [BIG SMOOCH!]

The Five People You Meet in Heaven

Book Description

September 23, 2003
Plot Eddie is a wounded war veteran, an old man who has lived, in his mind, an uninspired life. His job is fixing rides at a seaside amusement park. On his 83rd birthday, a tragic accident kills him, as he tries to save a little girl from a falling cart. He awakes in the afterlife, where he learns that heaven is not a destination. It's a place where your life is explained to you by five people, some of whom you knew, others who may have been strangers. One by one, from childhood to soldier to old age, Eddie's five people revisit their connections to him on earth, illuminating the mysteries of his "meaningless" life, and revealing the haunting secret behind the eternal question: "Why was I here?"
