#MMBBR Showcase Holding Out for a Hero by Victoria Van Tiem @VVanTiem_author

Holding out for a Hero

by Victoria Van Tiem

Blurb:
Their love survived the 80s. She wished she hadn’t.
A funny, bitter-sweet romantic dramedy set to an 80’s soundtrack that proves first love never truly dies.

Libby London fell in love with the 80s, came of age in the 90s, and in the 21st Century is coming completely apart. Her New York fashion sensibility is more ‘vintage tragedy’ than ‘retro babe’ and might just be what’s holding her back in all matters of life and love…
Holding out for a HeroAt least that’s what her well-meaning friends think. They’ve staged an #80s Intervention determined to bring Libby bang up-to-date, but how do you move forward when the one you love holds you in the past? Between her dreaded birthday party, friend’s madcap ambush, and being forced to relocate her Pretty in Pink resale thrift shop, Libby’s at the end of her rope. If her therapist isn’t quick, it could be a literal one.

Q.  What inspires your writing?
A. Story. I get hooked into an idea of something and love finding different ways to structurally share it.

Q.  What is your favorite thing about being a writer?
A. When you’re full up consumed by the characters and premise. It’s a happy, creative place.

Q.  What is the toughest part of being a writer?
A. The same!

Q.  If you could not be writer, what would you do/be?
A. I was a creative director for many years and owned my own digitally painted portrait gallery. I love art and the creative process.

Q.  What would the story of your life be entitled?
A. The reinvention of Victoria Van Tiem lol. I’ve had to restart several times, but I try and look at it as one adventure has runs its course and making room for the next.

Q.  What is your favorite book of all time?
A. Really? Just one? As a child, I loved The Lion, the Witch. & the Wardrobe and The Rats of Nimh. As an adult . . . well, I’m absolutely in love with The Girl on the Train, and everything Gillian Flynn writes, but… no, I can’t. I love so many!
Q.  Which character from ANY book are you most like?
A. Actually she’s the main character in Aline Brosh McKenna’s screenplay, Morning Glory. The character bumbles around a bit but is determined. I read, then watched the movie, and thought wow, there I am.

Q.  What character from all of your book are you most like?
A. There’s a tiny aspect of me in every character I craft. I think that’s a natural part of writing. We pull from personal experience, relationships, and quirks.

Q.  What is your favorite season?
A. Winter. I love January 1st. It’s like hitting the reset button and everything starts again.

Q.  Are you working on something new?
A. I’ve just turned in another romantic comedy. It’s loosley based on a 1960’s rom-com, but I’ve turned up the crazy. It’s a fun read with a twist you won’t see coming.

Q.  Anything you want to say to followers of this blog or those that are just stopping by?
