People don’t understand love.
If they did, they’d get why dance prodigy Karma Clark just can’t say goodbye to her boyfriend, Danny. No matter what he says or does or how he hurts her, she can’t stay angry with him . . . and can’t stop loving him. But there’s a reason why Karma is helpless to break things off: she’s been shot with a love arrow.
Arrows FINAL2.inddAaryn, son of Cupid, was supposed to shoot both Karma and Danny but found out too late that the other arrow in his pack was useless. And with that, Karma’s life changed forever. One pregnancy confirmed. One ballet scholarship lost. And dream after dream tossed to the wind.
A clueless Karma doesn’t know that her toxic relationship is Aaryn’s fault . . . but he’s going to get a chance to make things right. He’s here to convince Danny to man up and be there for Karma.
But what if this god from Mount Olympus finds himself falling in love with a beautiful dancer from Wisconsin who can never love him in return?

Critical Acclaim:

“This tale of Cupid meets teen mom is unique . . . for fans of fantasy fiction and mythology, such as Aimee Carter’s ‘The Goddess Test’ series or Rick Riordan.”—SLJ
“A sweet high-school twist on Greek mythology with added substance about teen parenting and breaking out of a bad relationship.”—Booklist
“A great mythological take on love, heartache, and teen pregnancy.”—VOYA
“Gorzelanczyk’s debut blends a light myth-meets-modern premise with weightier reflections about the struggles of a teenage parent . . .  entertaining.”—Publishers Weekly

Q. What is your favorite thing about being a writer?A. Being able to make things up! I love exploring why people might do the things they do, and writing fiction is one way I make sense of all that.

Q. What is the toughest part of being a writer?
A. Probably being my own marketing department. There's a lot more to being a writer than writing now that my book is out in the world. Part of the time, I'm author Melissa Gorzelanczyk, meaning I have to help ARROWS get into the hands of readers. I enjoy the marketing aspect, but it can be tiring and overwhelming.
Q. If you could not be writer, what would you do/be?A. Probably someone in marketing, haha! I've learned so much.

Q. What would the story of your life be entitled?
A. SHE SPELLED HER LAST NAME A LOT

Q. What is your favorite book of all time?
A. Oh dear, this question! I great up loving Anne of Green Gables, Little House on the Prairie and also mysteries like Nancy Drew.

Q. Which character from ANY book are you most like?
A. I really related to Julia in MEANT TO BE by Lauren Morrill. From the book copy: "
Julia may be accident prone, but she’s queen of following rules and being prepared."

Q. What character from all of your book(s) are you most like?
A. Probably Karma, the teen dance prodigy in ARROWS. She's driven and has a big dream, like I me when I was younger and wanted to become published.

Q. Which book would you love to take a weekend vacation inside of?
A. I've always wished Fry Me to the Moon from Alison Cherry's YA novel RED was a real place.

She definitely needed some waffle fries, but was she in a jalapeño cheddar mood, or was she in more of a cinnamon barbecue mood? Just as she was about to start asking questions, Jonathan said, “Well, since it’s Felicity’s first time, I think we better have one order of waffle fries with jalapeño cheddar and one order of sweet potato fries with cinnamon barbecue sauce.”

Q. What is your favorite season?
A. Summer, always and forever.

Q. What inspired your book cover(s)? Or what is your favorite book cover and why?

A. The thing about most book covers is that after you read the book, you typically can't imagine a more suitable cover for it. Most book covers hint to the story of  the book, or capture some essence of it. A couple covers I love: THE FIRST TIME SHE DROWNED by Kerry Kletter and THE GIRL FROM EVERYWHERE by Heidi Heilig.

Q. Tell me something funny that happened while on a book tour or while promoting your book.

A. My bookmark order had errors twice, which ended up in me having 15,000 bookmarks (only 5,000 were good, though).

Q. Are you working on something new?
A. Yes, always! I have a sequel to ARROWS, a spin-off book featuring mythology and a YA contemporary mystery.

Q. Anything you want to say to followers of this blog or those that are just stopping by?

A.  If you've ever wondered how you can support an author, here's an infographic that might help. Feel free to share! (attached)
