The Mother Earth News Almanac: A Guide Through the Seasons is an incredible collection of how-to knowledge in one jam packed book.  It has everything a person needs to know to become more self-sufficient and utilize DYI advice to simplify life.  When I was reading this book I felt that I was getting advice from my beloved Grandma and Grandpa.  It was originally published in the 1970's and has been updated, but much of what is in this book and that was written in the 70's is still relevant today.  I love that this book is broken down by seasons, which makes it very user friendly.  I cannot wait to start to utilize this book.  I am starting in Spring and I am going to make my way through the seasons.  Some of my favorite advice is that of  how to grow a garden.  I love that an illustrated chart in this book.  It breaks down what fruits and veggies to plant together for the optimal garden.  I feel that this book has given me the confidence to finally create my own home garden.  But this book is so much more than that.  It also teaches you to grill steaks over sawdust, how to build a kite, how to tie knots, how to join posts, how to use tea to clean varnished hardwood and so much more.  I would say that is book is a must have for anyone who wants to live a simpler, healthier and more self sufficient life.  I feel that I have barely scratched the surface of what this book has to offer.  It is a plethora of information and a 5 star book!  I cannot wait to continue to read, learn and utilize the information is contains.  I also plan to share this book with others, so they can also get a copy for themselves!
