#MMBBR How to Be a Hero - For Boys: Inspiration from Classic Heroes by Kathleen Schuller

How To Be A Hero---For Boys: Inspiration from Classic Heroes takes you into the world of classic literature. By showcasing her favorite heroes, the author shares ideas with a new generation of young readers who may not have encountered these remarkable books yet. Favorite quotes from Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson, The Prince and the Pauper and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain, Little Men by Louisa May Alcott, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, and The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett are offered along with useful insights and suggestions to help boys become the heroes of their own lives. By exploring the exciting lives of these classic heroes and emulating their virtues, boys will see for themselves what a wonderful adventure their own lives are and how much more wonderful they can become.

Kathleen Schuller, M.A., is a lover of good books and holds a master's degree in English literature. She is a wife, mother and grandmother who works as an offi ce manager and spends her free time reading, writing, sewing, baking, and enjoying nature as an armchair gardener. She is a member of the Jane Austen Society of North America and loves all things Austen.

How To Be A Hero - For Boys: Inspiration from Classic Heroes is her second book.

Q: What was your favorite part of the book?

A:  I enjoyed the fact that it made you look within yourself and to think about ways you can be a better person.

Q:  What are some things that you learned about classic heroes that you want others to know?

A:  In the case of the Prince and the Pauper, when the prince switched places and was able to look around and really see the state of the world he took steps to make changes.  When he was back in throne he did right by the orphans.  I think everyone can look around and really see things that are not right and make step to make them better.

Q:  How did you feel about the book overall?

I give it 5 stars because it has good advice on how to be a better person and friend.  There are good lessons within the story that give me things to think about and ways to make myself a better person.  I loved how they talked about classic books.  It made me want to read those books too.  There is a lot of talk about integrity, good judgement, and how to be loyal.  I think these are attributes that all people can work on and if they do the world would be a much nicer place.
